sleep

There is life here but this constant light in this big floaty not-well-defined office thingy is stopping me getting to sleep! Fortunately the good doctor has the problem under control with only a few unpleasant side-effects.

You can't get the staff these days.....

Macbeth on telly.

As you may be aware those wonderful people at the BBC are putting on some "modern" adaptations of Shakespeare's plays. Last Monday's Much Ado About Nothing was really rather good. The action took place in a local news studio (Wessex tonight) with Billie Piper as the not at all pramfaced weather girl Hero. I feel that a recommendation is in order, Colonel.

Next Monday is the turn of Macbeth, however. I'm never one to judge a book by it's cover, but does this woman really look like the sort of person who drowns puppies in Irn Bru every morning? I shall be watching with interest.

Love and kisses,
LMB

Bradwell

I've taken some time out from the office to stay in the quite remarkable village of Bradwell. To be honest I just had to get away from those witches, always stirring up trouble as well as bizarre potions. And where is the post that we've been promised? Nowhere to be found. I do hope a cure is found for Keira's "problems", what does the Colonel have to say on this matter?

Last night I entered local society at the annual charity Pie and Pea supper followed by a quiz. Having never really been a fan of this particular gastronomic experience I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this dish. A veritable feast!

p.s. we came second. Not bad eh? Och Aye!

Have you seen this band?

If you missed it you're either rubbish or you don't care about impoverished historical figures. Will trade soloquies for food...

Ratification with a "G".

I've always been a fan of that great English invention Cricket, so last Friday me and a couple of friends went to watch England v Bangladesh at Chester-le-Street (a place in the northeast of England). A good time was had by all even though the match wasn't a contest; it only really got entertaining when the English batsmen decided not to play any defensive strokes but rather to hit every ball towards the boundary. The best moment was when a fight broke out between a man dressed as a giant blue arrow and a couple of rather drunk louts.

On the way back we saw a group of youths in hoodies under a bridge drinking an unidentified substance from a bottle. We could have joined them but we chose to walk past. Quickly.

In the meantime Jane has been out on her first date with Thom Yorke. She got someone to take loads of pictures of the two of them and now she's busy cutting out Thom's head from the photographs and replacing them with cut-outs of Chris Martin. Sad or what? Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?

Sleeping Beauty.

Thanks to my new diet of deep-fried haggis and tea I'm feeling a lot better now. If only we'd had such innovations in the tenth century - people would have have had so much trouble moving they wouldn't have been able to start wars over dynastic succession.

I do hope that the new pontiff settles in and creates some decent Dr. Who villains. Young kids walking around with gas-masks on saying "Where's my mummy?" just don't do it for me. They could at least have given him a plunger for an arm.

Although it's technically a holiday, the colonel has chosen to come into the office to sleep. Any suggestions as to how I should wake him up?
